Thousands of family companions are euthanized each year in the greater Kansas City area alone. Rescue groups like T.A.R.A. are doing all they can to help these pets, but they face great financial challenges.

The average cost of a pet in our care ranges from $200.00 to $2000.00, depending on their medical needs and how long they are with us. Yet raising our adoption fees to match expenses encountered with our rescues would diminish their chances of finding a home. This means that we typically lose money on each animal we try to help. Without assistance from people who believe in our cause, rescue groups like T.A.R.A. would quickly cease to exist...

There are many ways people can help make a difference in the life of homeless dogs and cats. These pets need good homes of course, and rescue organizations need dedicated volunteers to care for the animals, attend events, transport, rehabilitate, educate, etc, etc.

We understand there are those of you who cannot take a dog or cat into your home or are unable to offer volunteer services but still want to help with rescue. For this reason we offer the 'Sponsor-A-Pet' program. Your donation will save one more pet from euthanasia and bring hope and reassurance to those of us who work so hard at helping animals in need.
